URI’s story began in 1998 in Namibia, where Ewert Smith developed a robust, multi-purpose vehicle designed to handle challenging terrain and the demanding needs of different industries.
The unique design quickly attracted attention, particularly in the mining and commercial sectors, where there was a need for a vehicle that was strong, versatile, easy to maintain and cost-effective.
In 2015, Andre and Raymond Squire, with their extensive experience in the trackless mining industry, acquired the intellectual property of the vehicle and established URI. From there, URI continued to develop the legendary all-steel, multi-purpose URI vehicle.
Today, URI focuses on developing and manufacturing reliable, robust and cost-effective vehicles for the commercial and mining industries, with solutions that can be adapted to different applications and working environments.
With a strong focus on engineering, innovation, quality and customer service, URI’s goal is simple:
To build vehicles that do the job, stand the test of time and deliver real value to our clients.
